DAMASCUS - Firefighters crawled on their bellies in full gear, hauled hoses up ladders and used equipment on hand to pull their fallen comrades out of harm's way.

Maxham Elementary School will re-open its doors Monday, after inspectors determined that a piece of peeling insulation in a crawl space posed no threat to public safety. Amid concerns over potential problems with asbestos, Mayor Charles Crowley ordered the school closed Thursday and Friday as a precautionary measure.
